Open call: Weak signaaal

We invite potential participants across disciplines to apply for contributing to the final session of our Weak Signaaal program, on the 23rd of June, under the theme of Spongy coexistence. The contribution format is open, but can for example take the form of an afternoon program, a workshop, a close reading session, or an installation. Find practical information below.

Practical information for applicants to the open call.

  • The deadline to apply is the 29th of April 2022 and the results will be known at the end of the first week of May.
  • We can offer a fee of 2000€ and cover production costs for up to 2000€.
  • we can cover travel costs within Europe and accomodation for staying in Brussels for up to 4 weeks, or discuss other logistical arrangements.
  • Your intervention will take place on 23/6, at La Vieille Chechette. La Vieille Chechette is a cooperatively run cafe and secondhand bookstore in the neighborhood of Saint Gilles. The cooperative wishes to be a meeting point for the neighbourhood and organise small workshops, concerts, debates etc. It can accomodate screenings, readings, window-displays, installations and performances, as long as the noise level is respectful to the neighbours in the evenings.
  • It is not obligatory to follow the whole program of the 4 sessions to be able to apply, but it is welcome. The 4 sessions will be happening Thursdays in June, respectively 2/6, 9/6, 16/6 and 23/6.

How to Apply

  • Your application should contain: A text of 200-400 words about what you want to do and why, and a PDF with some documentation of between 2-4 previous projects. Please let us know about what your needs would be during the residency period in terms of tools, accomodation and infrastructure.
